Gum Treatments

Gum treatments are dental procedures aimed at addressing and managing gum-related issues, primarily focusing on the prevention and treatment of gum disease, also known as periodontal disease. These treatments range from non-surgical to surgical procedures.

Non-surgical treatments typically include scaling and root planing, which involve deep cleaning to remove plaque and tartar buildup from below the gum line and smoothing the tooth roots to help the gums reattach. Additionally, antimicrobial treatments or antibiotics may be used to control infection and inflammation.

For more severe cases of gum disease, surgical treatments may be necessary. These can include flap surgery, where the gums are lifted to clean deeply infected areas and then repositioned, or gum grafting, which involves taking tissue from another part of the mouth or using synthetic materials to restore gum tissue lost due to disease.

Gum treatments also encompass procedures to correct gum recession, improve the aesthetics of the gum line, and manage conditions such as gingivitis or periodontitis. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene are crucial for maintaining gum health and preventing the recurrence of gum issues.
