Dental Implants

Dental implants are a popular and effective solution for replacing missing teeth. They consist of three main components: a titanium post, an abutment, and a crown. The process begins with the surgical placement of the titanium post into the jawbone, which acts as a replacement root for the missing tooth. Over time, the implant fuses with the bone through a process called osseointegration, providing a stable and durable foundation.
Once the implant has integrated with the bone, an abutment—a small connector— is attached to the post. This abutment serves as the interface between the implant and the replacement tooth. Finally, a custom-made crown is placed on top of the abutment to complete the restoration. The crown is designed to match the shape and color of the surrounding natural teeth, providing a seamless and aesthetically pleasing result.
Dental implants offer several advantages over other tooth replacement options, such as bridges and dentures. They are permanent, provide a natural look and feel, and help maintain bone density in the jaw, preventing the bone loss that can occur with missing teeth. Implants also do not require alteration of adjacent healthy teeth, as is necessary with bridges. They require a commitment to good oral hygiene and regular dental visits to ensure their longevity and functionality.
