Dentures

Dentures are removable prosthetic devices used to replace missing teeth and restore the function and appearance of a person’s smile. They come in two main types: complete dentures and partial dentures.

Complete Dentures are used when all the teeth in the upper or lower jaw, or both, are missing. They consist of a full set of artificial teeth set in a gum-colored acrylic base that fits over the gums. Complete dentures help in restoring chewing ability, speech, and facial structure that can be affected by the loss of all teeth.

Partial Dentures are used when some natural teeth remain in the mouth. They consist of one or more artificial teeth attached to a gum-colored or metal base, which is designed to clasp onto the remaining natural teeth for support. Partial dentures help in filling gaps created by missing teeth and prevent remaining teeth from shifting.

Both types of dentures are custom-made to fit the patient’s mouth and can be adjusted for comfort and functionality. They are typically made from materials such as acrylic resin, metal alloys, or a combination of both. Proper care and regular adjustments are essential to ensure the fit, comfort, and function of dentures, and to maintain oral health.
